Return to Transylvania: A Short Documentary about Billy Van
After nearly 6 years, my documentary “Return to Transylvania” is now complete. It was well-received at the Frightenstein Fest, and after some additional minor tweaking it is now ready for the internet.
It was shot early in my second year at Sheridan’s Media Arts course and a seven-minute version was edited at that time. My crew consisted of Eric Yu and Joe Raasch, and we also worked together on the original edit. The resulting film had numerous problems (many were beyond our control) including very poor audio quality and a few pacing problems. It also did not feature the interview segments with Joe Torbay, as these were shot after the original documentary was already edited. The new 2005 version retains the feel and attitude of the original, but is much improved technically and aesthetically.
